Our Story
Hello, we are Amy and Zack! Thank you for reading our story and learning about our family.
We met in 2000 at a Halloween party thrown by our friends. After Zack took a few jabs for not wearing a costume, we made a connection and had a great night. We decided to continue seeing each other and never looked back. We took many adventures through the years before getting married but finally had our wedding with all our family and friends in 2007.
We were ready to grow our family soon after we married but had difficulties getting pregnant. After three years and fertility...
About Zack
I grew up in rural Indiana in a loving home with my single teenage mom and younger brother. My grandparents helped us through hard times and instilled in me a strong work ethic and the importance of family.
Following high school, I went into the Army to raise money for college. My first duty station was around Washington, D.C., and I was excited by all the opportunities in the area. Once I finished my full-time Army job, I stayed in the Army Reserves and explored a few different careers. I met Amy during those years and shared many adventures with her.
In 2003, my...
About Amy
I grew up in a suburb of Philadelphia, close enough to the city that we went to museums often, far enough that we had a backyard to play in and needed a car to get to most places. I am the oldest of three, my mom stayed home with us, and my dad was an engineer. In the hot summers, to stay cool, we spent many days at the movie theatre or the mall. As a child, I loved sleeping over at my grandparents' houses during school breaks.
I wasn't a very active child, but in high school, my best friend convinced me to start running. This became a lifelong passion for me and has been a...
The Big Brothers
Ike and Breccan have been buddies since day one. They share enthusiasm for video games, reading, rec league soccer, and, more recently, flag football. They are a joy to watch playing with younger kids because it's a great opportunity to see how kind and silly they can be. There are many kids in our neighborhood, and the boys have been more than happy to take the younger ones under their wing, teaching them how to play their made-up games.
Ike has always been a witty kid. His school teachers have always commented on his sense of humor and his...
Our Home
Our house has one very unique feature: we have a "sharing room"! When our sons started giving their friends tours of our house, they labeled the living room the "sharing room" because that is where the toys were shared. We have remodeled a few of the rooms and look forward to future remodels. We have a nice backyard which houses a big trampoline - one of our best COVID purchases.
We live within walking distance of the high school, and the bus stop for the elementary school is right next to our house. The neighborhood has a community pool and is close to a few paths that are...
Our Family
We have family, and we have "fr-amily." Most of our biological family is scattered around the country, so naturally, we've integrated many of our friends as part of our friend family, or "fr-amily." We plan hangouts, sleepovers with the kids, and regularly take small adventures with them to museums, parks, and shows. These special and fun events keep us busy, and the fr-amily are excited to meet a new family member.
A great thing about having family around the country is traveling to visit them. We make regular trips to Indiana during the winter school break to visit Zack's mom...
Traditions + Hobbies + Interests
One of our most important activities is eating dinner together, discussing our day or our favorite video games at the dinner table. Zack cooks dinner, Amy does dishes, and the boys unload the dishwasher. Everyone contributes to family time, which is followed by reading and TV time.
We are an active family but not a "sports family." While the boys play soccer and flag football, the teams are rec level meant for the enjoyment of the game, not the competition. The boys love to go out and make up games in the backyard with their neighbor friends.
Our home is also stocked...
Thank You
Thank you for taking the time to look at our book, and for considering an adoption plan for this baby. If we are chosen as adoptive parents, we will always remind the child of the loving choice their mother made for them. You are brave, loving, and nurturing.
Imagining an addition to our family brings great excitement and joy to our conversations with family and friends. If we are chosen as adoptive parents, we promise to provide the baby with all the love, protection, nurturing, and acceptance we can offer. The baby will also have all the support of our family and friends who...
